Attorney III #N3110; Salary $60,037.12; Lincoln. The Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission has an opening in the position of General Counsel. This position is classified as an Attorney III position. REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a license to practice law in Nebraska, must be able to effectively communicate with others orally and in writing. PREFERRED: Applicants with court room experience and/or experience in administrative law and administrative hearings.

General Duties: Under the direction of the Executive Director, serves as the legal authority for the Commission exercising professional judgment on legal matters in the areas of administrative law and the rules and regulations of the Commission. The General Counsel provides legal advice to: a) the Commission; b) the Executive Director; and c) the Commission Staff. Under the direction of the Executive Director the General Counsel is responsible for the preparation of: a) legal documents and notices; b) staff opinions; c) advisory opinions for Commission approval; d) an advisory opinion index; and e) drafts of Commission rules and regulations. The General Counsel conducts legal research for the Executive Director and the Commission. The General Counsel helps individuals and entities comply with the Nebraska Political Accountability and Disclosure Act (NPADA) and the Campaign Finance Limitation Act (CFLA) by: a) answering questions and providing information; and b) speaking to groups and participating in seminars. Enforces the NPADA and CFLA by: a) conducting preliminary investigations; b) developing cases against alleged violators of the NPADA and CFLA; c) presenting cases of violations to the Commission or designated hearing officer; d) enforcing orders of the Commission in state court; e) representing the Commission in appeals in any court; and f) cooperating with the Attorney General or the appropriate county attorney in the preparation of criminal cases arising out of the NPADA and CFLA.
